Logo as the Starting Point
The Plaza Mariachi logo served as the starting point. Its woven geometric symbol was deconstructed and transformed into a flexible visual system rather than a static mark.
The logo’s patterns were scaled, repeated, and reoriented to create a sense of flow across the length of the bus, transforming the graphic into a bold, cohesive visual pattern. Its bold color palette was preserved to ensure strong brand recognition and high visibility from a distance. The logo geometry naturally led the eye from the front of the bus to the back, reinforcing movement.
Incorporating the Mariachi Dancer
To bring the brand to life, I introduced a mariachi dancer silhouette inspired by traditional folklórico movement.
The dancer embodies the energy, rhythm, and celebration central to Plaza Mariachi, with flowing ribbon-like elements extending from her form to reinforce the idea of music traveling through the city. Her movement mirrors the motion of the bus itself, making the wrap feel dynamic and expressive rather than static.
Communicating the Experience
Rather than overcrowding the design with text, I focused on strategic messaging that highlights key experiences such as live music, dancing, food, shopping, and cultural events, creating a cohesive visual narrative that showcases the vibrant offerings of Plaza Mariachi. The phrase “Experience Plaza” reinforces that it is more than a venue—it’s a destination—while the inclusion of a QR code allows viewers to instantly explore events and offerings in real time.
Final Outcome
The bus wrap functions as a mobile billboard, a cultural statement, and an extension of the Plaza Mariachi brand.
By combining the logo, the dancer, and concise messaging, the wrap captures attention, celebrates culture, and tells a complete story whether seen stopped at a traffic light or driving past. Through bold color and a sense of motion, it uses symbolism to invite people to experience the music, food, and culture that Plaza Mariachi Music City represents.
